What We're About

What We're About

“I hope there will be a ruckus… I want you to make yourselves heard in your dioceses, I want the ruckus to go out, I want the Church to go out onto the streets, I want us to resist everything worldly, everything static, everything comfortable… everything that might make us closed in on ourselves.”
— -Pope Francis, World Youth Day 2013, Rio de Janeiro

At the Holy Ruckus we want to give Pope Francis what he asked for; we want to make some noise, to make a mess. In short, as the poet Robert Fitzgerald Diggs (a.k.a. Wu Tang Clan's Rza) once said, we want to “bring da… ruckus” to the Catholic world. Through our blogs, videos and podcasts, we hope you can find something here that’s relevant to your life, that connects you to the Church, and hopefully entertains you a bit too. We hope you grow to love the fruit of our work, and if you don’t, don’t say we didn’t warn you; we told you we’d bring the ruckus!

The Holy ruckus team

Josh Moldiz

Josh is the co-founder of The Holy Ruckus, co-host of the Podcast, and emerging YouTube sensation (at least in his own mind). After graduating with a degree in Catechetics from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Josh decided he did not like to make money, and began working in ministry full time. He spends his days terrorizing young people by teaching the faith at a Catholic grade school and doing high school youth ministry. Most importantly, he's married to his college sweetheart, Emily. Together they raise three beautiful daughters, and haven't slept a full night in over a year.

David Guillen

David is the co-founder of The Holy Ruckus and co-host of the Podcast. Between a full-time day job, school, and part-time youth/music ministry, he's just a 20-something Catholic guy trying to stay out of trouble, and waiting to find out what God wants him to do. Most of the time you can catch him burdening his friends, tolerating his Salvadoran family, and screaming at the Redskins and/or Real Madrid on TV. He's been called many things (most of which we can't repeat here), but perhaps the best word to describe David is passionate; and he brings all that passion to The Holy Ruckus

Emily Moldiz

Emily is The Holy Ruckus' resident Mom-In-Chief/ Moral Compass. She is the muscle behind the scenes, editing/producing the  Podcast and the Videos, as well as actively trying to keep Josh and David out of trouble. Happily married to Josh (in what’s best described as a lapse of judgement), she is a loving wife and exhausted mother of three young girls. A graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, she works tirelessly to balance wife-ing, mothering, work, and passionate evangelization. Of all of The Holy Ruckus' collaborators, she is by far the most likely to be one day canonized (or at the very least have people show up at her funeral).
